Greek God Ares

The god I am doing is called Ares he is a Greek god. Ares seen as either a , bearded warrior dressed in battle arms, or a  beardless man with helm and spear. At Athens he had a temple containing a statue made by Alcamenes. Ares was arrogant, aggressive, athletic, muscular and fit. This god had the power to start wars so people were careful about arguing.

I chose this god because he can bring death upon the world wherever and whenever. He can cause a lot of chaos that people don't want. So you have to be careful with Ares. I would respect this god because once again he can cause tons of deaths whenever he wants. His greatest strengths were being a strong man and causing chaos. His weakness is getting wounds and going to his mom Hera to fix them.

            Crazy Man Makes Lighting Strike

Breaking  news!!! Men sitting off the coast fishing were all zapped by lightning. Everyone saw the lightning suddenly strike the ground. Everyone lived in good condition without any burns. It was very loud and scared the whole city.  It was unusual because it was a perfect sunny day at about 3:00. This was unusual because in LA there was barely any thunderstorms.
Witnesses say it was over 160 degrees in that area. One of the men that was shocked with lightning said “I saw some big man come out of the sky with a lightning bolt in his hand.” Most people saw it too they were all scared and all fled. All of the men fishing said they got a rush of adrenaline and were all okay after it. No one knew what the man was called so they called him Lighting Man.
Everyone was frightened for themselves and wondered if other people saw it too.People were worried for others around that area. Everything turned out okay and everyone was safe. People just wondered what caused it and why. It came out to a Great story and was mysterious. Im Bob Karley and thank you for reading.

Down a Dark Hall

In Down A Dark Hall the main character is Kit. She is driven by her mom and her step dad. Her real died in a taxi accident. When they got to the boarding school Blackwood. When Kit got to the school she felt the school itself was evil. She got in and was greeted by Madame Duret. Later another three girls came to the school, there were only 4 girls for the entire school. Kit had a dream that her dead dad came back and was there above her. The other girls Sandy,Lynda and Ruth had these dreams too. they wondered why they were chose and not other people. Later they found out they had hidden talents that they never knew about. Lynda was an amazing artist, Sandy could write poems, Kit could make music and Ruth did math she never knew about. After that they all made hideous things with there talents. Stuff started to get weird. There was a blackout Kit was in the office Jules came so he could bring her back in the room they were all in. They found files of the old school Madame Duret had taught at before. There was 24 kids at that school, 4 committed suicide and the rest are all in a mental institute. They get back in the room, Jules tells Madame Duret they have to get out of there. She refuses because she makes a living out of what these girls hidden talents are. Ruth says there not giving it to her and she throws her book in the fireplace. There is now a fire. Blackwood is gone. Will they make it out?

I really like this book because of it's good structure. There is a cliffhanger at the end of every paragraph. There is so much suspense in the book and the dialogue plays a major roll in it. I would recommend this book to my friends because they like scary stories and suspense. The end is written so well it has a very good cliffhanger. I have to say this is o ne of the best books I have ever read.

I challenge you to read this book. Comment how it was if it was good or bad. No SPOILERS! Thank you for reading

Poetry blog post

Shel Silverstein

Shel Silverstein was born on September 25th 1930. He was born in Chicago,Illinois. He died in 1999 in Key West Florida from a heart attack. He had a great desire to be popular among women and be a sportsman that didn't work out. That inspired him to be a poet. He was enlisted in the army in 1950. He was a musician and composer.

There's a Polar Bear
In our Frigidaire--
He likes it 'cause it's cold in there.
With his seat in the meat
And his face in the fish
And his big hairy paws
In the buttery dish,
He's nibbling the noodles,
He's munching the rice,
He's slurping the soda,
He's licking the ice.
And he lets out a roar
If you open the door.
And it gives me a scare
To know he's in there--
That Polary Bear
In our Fridgitydaire.

I think he is talking about a person that is super hungry. It stuck out because we had to pick a poem in the 4th grade so I picked this one.I relate to this poem because some times I just want to eat everything in my refrigerator. There is no feeling to this he is just telling.

The rhyme scheme is a,a,a,b,c,d,c,e,f,g,f,h,h,i,i,j,j. The repetition is There's a Polar Bear
In our Frigidaire and That Polary Bear In our Fridgitydaire. The style is a rhyming poem. Using personification and alliteration would make this more interesting if it were a story.

If you want to read Shel Silverstien poems go here http://faculty.weber.edu/chansen/humanweb/projects/MeghanUng/poems.htm .
See if you can find out how many poems SHel Silverstien made and comment them.

Is it worth it?

You can spend almost $300 for a $30 pair of shoes or jeans. Currently, people are arguing about whether brands should be over priced for no reason. I believe this is a good marketing tactics because Nike and Uggs are bought a lot. this is a great way to make money and they are higher quality. Also you get new shoes or a new popular game you will be considered “cool”.

Selling things like this is a really good way of marketing. If you overprice something and make it look cool everyone will buy it and it will make you good money. Even if it looks bad kids will buy it because its from Nike or from Uggs. If a smaller company makes better or the same shoes for 50 dollars less kids won’t but it because it’s all about the brand. Also if you have shoes that aren’t from a popular brand and you buy some you will never wear any other shoes. Companies are earning big money

They are higher quality shoes or merchandise. Not everything expensive is cheap. Most of the time you will get amazing material with shoe brands and clothes. You will probably not break them because of the material they're made  of. Most of the jean material is worth 300 dollars or more. You are getting what you paid for. Although some companies have very cheap material and still make money off it.

You will have more friends and be more popular. It is true that if you have one of these cool brands you will be more popular. It works like this If you have a game like call of Duty one of the best selling games ever you will have more friends if you play it, at least here is how it is. So if you have cool Nike shoes you will have more friends. thats just how the new generation works.

Even though, they use good material it could still be 100 dollars then it usually is. Even though you can have more “friends” your parents might not have enough money for Uggs or Nike shoes. Also video games can be 60 dollars and consoles  like the Xbox One can be over 500 dollars so if you want a game the total is $500 plus tax. Shoes like the Kobe 9’s are that expensive and it is worth it for a console but shoes maybe not. even though I prefer expensive brands i have to agree with these.

I think it is worth it to buy expensive brand shoes or merchandise. It is made out of good materialy, you are giving money to the company you like and you can become “popular”.It is good for companies it makes them more then 10,000,000 dollars a year. I think over pricing things is a good thing for companies and for customers.

Did Aliens Build Statues on Easter Island?

Did Aliens Make the Easter Island statues? People wonder how the statues got there in the first place. Currently, there is an argument whether the statues on Easter Island moved by themselves or if people moved them. It is a mystery that most likely will never be solved. I think it moved by itself because there were few people and it was huge and heavy.

They would have never been strong enough to move it 1,000 feet. According to the  article it was  33 feet tall and 80 tons. Also in the article it said they didn't have horses cars or wheels. No one knows how they got there. One more fat was that the rocks that they were built of were never on the Island.

Did a spaceship bring them there? No one knows because it was more then 1,000 years ago. People live there it is considered a part of Chile. Those people don't even know who it happened and over 5,000 inhabit there. It is scary because they could have been aliens.

\

I think they might have come from a spaceship or the statue had some type of alien power to move itself. Also the humans were very advanced because they knew how to plow crops. Also, they had to of had some alien technology like a truck because there was no way they could have gotten up the hill. I honestly think they had alien powers and they had very advanced technology.

My challenge to you is to make a theory about how they got there. You should send me a link to the theory. You can have your own opinion.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs was a very popular tech designer. He was the Boss of the Apple company. You probably have an iPhone or an I pod or I pad. He was born on February 24th 1955 in San Francisco. His parents were University graduates and were very smart. Steve was put up for adoption by his biological parents. His dad that had adopted him taught him how to put chips together. His father was a genius with tech. He had taught Steve the basics of how to build tech. His biological had had another child and did not give her away for adoption. he made 1 billion dollars from the apple II. He bought Pixar Studios which later collaborated with Disney. Steve got kicked out of apple because of the failures. Apple was number in the world for selling songs behind Walmart. Steve dropped out of college after 18 months. He drove without a licence plate for years.

Steve Jobs said many great quotes here are a few of them.   "Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected." This quote is true you should always try your best and try to look professional. Always look good at what your doing. "Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower." This means create something yourself and it could be successful. Also, don't always follow be a leader."Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations." This means don't eat yourself up on one thing and move on. Also, you shouldn't always be mad about failing.

Steve Jobs made Apple 1 billion dollars by making the Apple II. It was so ahead of it's time it was amazing. He bought Pixar after he got kicked out of Apple then when he came back to apple he made the amazing iPhone and iPod which got way more money then the Apple II. When he made the iPad it made more then 1.5 billion dollars and was one of the best selling thing in 2010. I respect him because he was a good man and I enjoy his products. If it wasn't for Steve coming back Apple wouldn't exist without the mac book or the I phone, I mac and many more. Steve jobs was loved in his final years.

Twitter

Twitter is one of the largest social media websites ever. You can "tweet" about what you are doing. Most celebrities spend hours on twitter. It is to express what is happening to you in a good or bad way. If you want to tell people what is happening in your life you should use twitter. There are millions of users on Twitter. The person with the most followers is Justin Bieber with about 40 million followers.

Most active users have about 12 thousand tweets in the past 1 or 2 years. Think of how many messages or interactions that is. Some people use it too much and it gets addicting.  Twitter has made another application called vine. It has been getting a lot of attention lately. You can make 6 second funny videos or address something in them.

Finally, Twitter will most likely be popular for a long time. Celebrities will keep using and promoting it. It is a great way to make new friends and being on the internet. If you want to keep up on drama on celebrities Twitter is the perfect site for you.

Try to find the twitter account with the most tweets.

Youtube

Youtube is a very big video website that about 2 million post on every minute. It is a social website that people can comment on. Many people that have over 500,000 subscribers post more than one video a day. People who have over 100 thousand subscribers do it for a job and get payed more than a regular worker. It was opened in 2005.

Most people do youtube for fun although allot of people do it for a job. It depends on your view count or how many people watch your videos. Also it depends what network you partner with or who pays you. If they like you and like your content they will give you more money. Your subscriber count really doesn't matter.

The website is worldwide. All content is different, there is basically no end to watching videos. People of all races and differences socialize with other people. It brings the community together and makes people not as nervous in public. There are some hurtful comments but most comments are constructive criticism to make videos better.

Check out youtube I don't need to link it because of how popular it is.

                         Why are batteries different sizes?

In 1749 Ben Franklin battery to describe the set of linked capacitors he used to conduct .  In the 1800's and 1900's was when batteries became a popular power source. Bigger things needed more power thus  needing a bigger battery for more power. Since technology was getting smaller and smaller they needed smaller batteries. In 1924 they decided what the batteries were going to be called.

In my opinion I think batteries are very important. They are in basically in all technology. It is all that we use most of the time. They are in I pods , computers cars and etc. Over time, some of the types of batteries simply died out, because they were no longer used in any products. For example, you won’t find any “B” batteries in most stores today.

                  Why are batteries in everything?

There has to be something to power everything and that is  batteries. Batteries are probably even in headphones and microphones. There are types of batteries that you can't change and most you can change. The most common batteries are AA batteries.

Thank you for reading Some information from
http://wonderopolis.org/wonder/why-are-batteries-different-sizes/

Is a computer bug an insect?

Can you live without technology or computers? Computers
aren't perfect as you know they have flaws called bugs. The
programs like paint.ms , PowerPoint and Microsoft word. If
you want a program that has no bugs or flaws it will be
nearly virtually impossible if you code some big program.
Of course you would have to check everything out before you release it. In 1947 was when the first bug was found in Harvard.

                                     My opinion

I want to get into coding I always thought it was an interesting topic. There is no way you can be perfect or your work to be perfect. There will always be flaws that people don't like that are annoying.I think when I start coding I will check it over then release it a year checking it. If you start coding at a young age you will get a really good job.

Does Your Brain Auto Correct?

                                             Introduction

On smart phones like the Samsung galaxy S4 Or the I phone 5c or 5s there is a feature called auto correct. Auto correct fixes a word based on what letters are put together. For instance If you spelt pen as pne it would automatically fix your error. Some people hate it because it always corrects it as another word and not the word that they wanted to type. Some people love it especially the younger kids because they don't know how to spell most words.

Does your brain have auto correct?

Our brains have an autocorrect, when we know a word well and it's spelt wrong we immediately know it's wrong. We have had this since we were born. Your brain can hold as much information as the technology we have now. Scientist believe that the brain's ability to make sense out of misspelled words is very quick when it's a word you know. As long as the first and last letters are correct our brains know that it is wrong and we can fix it.

Brain Games - Read The Font from SatoriPrime on Vimeo.

                                                                 Opinion

Honestly I think this is amazing. I didn't think that our brains could automatically fix something without noticing. Sometimes you read something that is misspelled barely and not notice it is misspelled. That is why you sometimes have to reread your sentences backwards because you don't notice it's wrong. Our auto correct is as good as a phones our a mobile devices.

                                   My challenge for you

Go to this website were I got some of my information from http://wonderopolis.org/wonder/does-your-brain-autocorrect/ and find 5 facts about auto correcting. Watch the video it is very interesting and explains about color with fonts. Thank you for reading my blog post.

                   Commercial Techniques

Introduction                                      I think this commercial has Bandwagon and Emotional appeal because if you eat skittles everything you touch turns into skittles. Basically what Emotional appeal is when it is funny, sad or etc . Bandwagon is part of the "in" crowd which means everyone is using it so you should use it too. Obviously its not real but they want you to think skittles are good at least tome they are . Most skittle commercials are funny but have nothing to do with the product. Most little kids will believe this commercial and ask their parents for it or at least that's what skittles think. Parents give their little children whatever they want and even if the will buy it just because there children want to do what happened in the commercial.

                                  Opinion

I enjoy this commercial because I think its humorous to the younger audience and it makes them want to buy the product. The strategies want to make the viewer to buy the product because bandwagon is when everyone is using or eating the product and there are millions of people who love skittles. The reason why people want to buy the product because of emotional appeal is the commercial is funny and many people will buy the product just because of the commercial this one was enjoyable. I think this commercial will make money because it was enjoyable even thought this commercial was from 2007 it is enjoyable and I think it mad lots of money. It's based off the book Chocolate Fever and many people enjoyed that book and it made tons of money .So obviously this commercial made lots of money too and Skittles became something that everyone knew about skittles and they are every were.

  TOP 6 Bandwagon Commercials

    Number 1

I believe this commercial appeals to people who like music and like their cereal. This could be a transfer commercial as well. This is Bandwagon because if you don't eat wheatabix.

          Number 2

                obviously

It has bandwagon in the name so obviously Doritos was going for a Bandwagon commercial. It is bandwagon because the dad wants to be cool and support every football team.

Number 4

This commercial is bandwagon because if you get ATNT you can text any one from any company. Now you can do that with any company but back then when this commercial was made most companies could text people with other companies but they acted like they didn't exist. I don't think they would make this commercial now because every company has thbis feature.

 Number 4

'

This commercial is bandwagon because they want you  to switch to 4g because atnt now has it.everyone has 4g except for one person everyone got the message way faster then him and he was the only one who didn't get it in time he was kind of excluded but not on purpose atnt wants you to switch to 4g because they want your money. even if you have 3g the delay isnt that long and once again atnt think there the only company who have done this but not true

                                    Number  5

This commercial is bandwagon because they all want to eat the doritos. They want to be "cool" and eat doritos. They are literally crazy for doritos and that's all there thinking about.

Number 6

This commercial is bandwagon because they want you to support them. If you don't like the Jets the mesage is your not cool.

             Top 4 Emotional appeal commercials

                    THE FIRST EMPEROR

                                     Introduction

Shi Huang Ti was the First Chinese Emperor and was very powerful. In 1974 they found Terracotta while digging for water. They found a couple fragments of Terrecotta then dug it up and found a clay army. A gigantic army lay with chariots, war houses, infamy and archers. The place the army was in was as big as an aircraft shelter. There were more then 7,000 soldiers in the base. So far 200 or more figures have been restored.

                                    Opinion

In my opinion Shi huang Ti is a horrible man and Emperor. One thing that I dislike about is he obsessed his death. Another thing is he massacred the army of the six states. Tlo build the great wall he killed people. He became powered  at 13 so he learned to abuse his power. He made his wives drink poison and buried them alive.Killed anybody who said no and killed their family.
Top 10 Shi Haung Ti facts

 1. The last years of Shih huang-ti's life were dominated by an ever-growing distrust of his entourage — at least three assassination attempts nearly succeeded — and his increasing isolation from the common people.

2. Cheng was born the son of Chuang Hsiang (who later became king of the state of Ch'in in northwestern China) while his father was held hostage in the state of Chao. His mother was a former concubine of a rich merchant, Lü Pu-wei, who, guided by financial interests, managed to install Chuang Hsiang on the throne, even though he had not originally been designated as successor. The tradition, once widely accepted, that Cheng was actually Lü Pu-wei's natural son is probably a slanderous invention.

3. In 220 Shih huang-ti undertook the first of a series of imperial inspection tours that marked the remaining 10 years of his reign. While supervising the consolidation and organization of the empire, he did not neglect to perform sacrifices in various sacred places, announcing to the gods that he had finally united the empire, and he erected stone tablets with ritual inscriptions to extol his achievements.

4. Most of the information about Shih huang-ti's life derives from the successor Han dynasty, which prized Confucian scholarship and thus had an interest in disparaging the Ch'in period. The report that Shih huang-ti was an illegitimate son of Lü Pu-wei is possibly an invention of that epoch. Further, stories describing his excessive cruelty and the general defamation of his character must be viewed in the light of the distaste felt by the ultimately victorious Confucians for legalist philosophy in general.

5. When Cheng, at age 13, formally ascended the throne in 246 BC, Ch'in already was the most powerful state and was likely to unite the rest of China under its rule. The central states saw Ch'in as a barbarous country, but its strong position on the mountainous western periphery (with its centre in the modern province of Shensi) enabled Ch'in to develop a strong bureaucratic government and military organization as the basis of the totalitarian state philosophy known as legalism.

6. Until Cheng was officially declared of age in 238, his government was headed by Lü Pu-wei. Cheng's first act as king was to execute his mother's lover, who had joined the opposition, and to exile Lü, who had been involved in the affair. A decree ordering the expulsion of all aliens, which would have deprived the king of his most competent advisers, was annulled at the urging of Li Ssu, later grand councillor. By 221, with the help of espionage, extensive bribery, and the ruthlessly effective leadership of gifted generals, Cheng had eliminated one by one the remaining six rival states that constituted China at that time, and the annexation of the last enemy state, Ch'i, in 221 marked his final triumph: for the first time China was united, under the supreme rule of the Ch'in.

6. To herald his achievement, Cheng assumed the sacred titles of legendary rulers and proclaimed himself Ch'in Shih huang-ti ("First Sovereign Emperor of Ch'in"). With unbounded confidence, he claimed that his dynasty would last "10,000 generations."

7. As emperor he initiated a series of reforms aimed at establishing a fully centralized administration, thus avoiding the rise of independent satrapies. Following the example of Ch'in and at the suggestion of Li Ssu, he abolished territorial feudal power in the empire, forced the wealthy aristocratic families to live in the capital, Hsien-yang, and divided the country into 36 military districts, each with its own military and civil administrator. He also issued orders for almost universal standardization — from weights, measures, and the axle lengths of carts to the written language and the laws. Construction of a network of roads and canals was begun, and fortresses erected for defense against barbarian invasions from the north were linked to form the Great Wall.

8. hih huang-ti certainly had an imposing personality and showed an unbending will in pursuing his aim of uniting and strengthening the empire. His despotic rule and the draconian punishments he meted out were dictated largely by his belief in legalist ideas.

9. With few exceptions, the traditional historiography of imperial China has regarded him as the villain par excellence, inhuman, uncultivated, and superstitious. Modern historians, however, generally stress the endurance of the bureaucratic and administrative structure institutionalized by Shih huang-ti, which, despite its official denial, remained the basis of all subsequent dynasties in China. (Encyclopaedia Britannica Article)

10. Another motive for Shih huang-ti's travels was his interest in magic and alchemy and his search for masters in these arts who could provide him with the elixir of immortality. After the failure of such an expedition to the islands in the Eastern Sea — possibly Japan — in 219, the emperor repeatedly summoned magicians to his court. Confucian scholars strongly condemned the step as charlatanry, and it is said that 460 of them were executed for their opposition. The continuous controversy between the emperor and Confucian scholars who advocated a return to the old feudal order culminated in the famous burning of the books of 213, when, at Li Ssu's suggestion, all books not dealing with agriculture, medicine, or prognostication were burned, except historical records of Ch'in and books in the imperial library.
